Supporting Knowledge
SciStream enables users to import, aggregate, and organize raw instrument data and metadata files within Spotfire for Signals. This allows scientists to efficiently batch import instrument data files from plate readers, high-content screening readers, and flow cytometers, along with associated metadata, experimental details, and plate layouts, ensuring instant and seamless access to data.
There are several file types supported for importing instrument files through the SciStream data source, including Excel, .csv, .txt, EZreader (rst), and Flow Cytometry (fcs) files.
Note: Excel sheets in a multi-page document can be identified by name.
Note: SciStream parsing can be set to begin at a specified keyword if applicable.
Note: From the Create File Format window, under the Columns area, there will already be other columns by default; these should not be deleted or modified, since they will be needed for the main table.
Alternatively, the user can create a new import file format when creating a new data table from an instrument file. From the Spotfire for Signals start page, select [Files and data]. From the Files and data flyout, select the
[Other] option, then from Other options, select Instrument Files with SciStream. This will open the SciStream options. From the SciStream window, follow previous steps 6️⃣ through 🔟 to create the import file format. Once this is done, from the Add data to analysis pane, select the
[Rename data table] icon and type the new name; under import, select Add as new data table; then select the
[OK] button.
