Signals Notebook: Learn about hierarchical Attributes from the Signals Configuration

Hierarchical Attributes allow the creation of a parent–child relationship between two attribute lists. Hierarchical attributes can be built only within an inline list type Attribute.

Values (children) of one attribute can be related to a specific value (parent) ​​of another attribute. Hierarchical Attributes simplify processes for users and narrow down their options.

Recommendations:

• When using any hierarchical Attributes in a template, make sure that all parent values ​​have at least one child value so there are no missing values ​​when creating system objects.
• When an existing inline list becomes a Hierarchical attribute, delete the list from any other template and then re-add it, which will display the Hierarchical attribute icon.

Note: Hierarchical Attributes can be linked to all system object templates and table templates.

Note: Hierarchical Attributes are not available for Materials – Properties in record definition and Inventory.
