Signals Notebook: Create a new Record Definition field for a Material asset from the Signals Configuration

For Administrators only.

*Required.

1️⃣ Signals Configuration ➡ select [Materials]
2️⃣ Material Types pane ➡ select Material library ➡ select Record Definition
3️⃣ Record Definition section ➡ Fields ➡ select [Field]
4️⃣ Create New Field section ➡ type/select Field Name* Field Type* Required Hidden
5️⃣ Create New Field section ➡ select  [Add New Field]
6️⃣ Record Definition section ➡ select  [Save]

Supporting Knowledge

• Available Field Types that are: Text String, List, Multi-select List, Attribute List, Number/integer, Number/Decimal, Number w/Unit, Date/Time, Attached File, External Hyperlink, Internal Reference, Autotext List, Concentration, Variable Measure, CAS Number, and Calculated Property (only for Proteins).
• Available Calculated Properties for Proteins are: Molecular Weight (Dalton), Isoelectric Point (pl), Total Amino Acids, Extinction Coefficient Oxidized, Extinction Coefficient Reduced, Instability Index, and Aliphatic Index.
• The variable measure type allows Administrators to choose which unit families the users can select when entering a value.

• There are two main types for internal reference:

  • General: When General is selected, the user can select a query to search any entity, such as experiments, notebooks, materials, or samples, to link as an internal reference.

  • Lineage-Parent: When Lineage-Parent is selected, you can track other materials (e.g., cell lines, compounds, plasmids) as the internal reference. The material selected will be treated as a parent of the newly created material.

• Unused fields can be deleted from the field definition of libraries. Once they have been used, they cannot be deleted; however, they can be hidden.
