Problem:

All of the Molecular Surfaces options are grayed out, so I cannot display surfaces.


Solution:

First, you need to calculate the surfaces in order to view them. You must use either Extended Huckel, MOPAC or Gaussian to calculate the surfaces.

In addition, Mac users must ensure that the QuickDraw 3D extension is installed, and not disabled. Use your Extensions Manager to make sure the extension is present, and on.
