Product: ChemDraw
I get an application error or Dr. Watson error when launching ChemDraw.
Most likely, this is a bug in your HP PCL printer driver, and not a problem with ChemDraw. If you go to your Printer control panel, you'll probably find that your default printer is an HP printer using a PCL driver. We have worked around HP's bug in the latest version of ChemDraw. We recommend upgrading to the latest version of ChemDraw.
ChemDraw 6.0 users can alternatively download a 6.0.2 patch (this patch only works if you have ChemDraw 6.0 or 6.0.1) from the Support Downloads page:
http://www.cambridgesoft.com/support/files.cfm
All other users have two options.
1. Upgrade to the latest version of ChemDraw.
2. Try using a PostScript version of the printer driver as the default driver or or at least a non-HP PCL driver as the default. You can obtain a PostScript (PS) driver from HP if your printer supports one. You can also set up a dummy printer driver for your printer and set it as the default. You can still use your original PCL driver for printing, you'll just need to manually select it from the Print dialog box of the application you are using when attempting to print. See your Windows Help for setting up a printer driver.
The following related Microsoft Knowledge Base article provides further details about this non-ChemDraw specific printer driver problem: http://support.microsoft.com/support/kb/articles/Q183/5/22.ASP?LN=EN-US&SD=gn&FR=0 on this problem.
