Product: ChemDraw
When I launch ChemDraw, the tool palette does not appear.
In version 7.0 you can hide the tool palette, by choosing the Show Main Tools option in the View menu. Choosing this option will also turn it back on. Note that the View menu also allows you to hide the other toolbars as well.
In versions prior to 7.0, it is possible that the window was moved off of the screen. To change the tool palette position follow these steps:
Quit ChemDraw if it is open. Go to the Start menu, and choose Find Files or Folders. Type chemdraw.ini in the Named field and make sure the Look in Field is set to the drive containing your Windows folder, i.e. C: Click on Find Now. When it finds your chemdraw.ini file, double click on the icon for the chemdraw.ini file. If you get prompted to choose a program to open it with, choose NotePad, otherwise it should open in a text editor. Scroll down to the lines titled:
Tools Palette Horizontal Pos=
Tools Palette Vertical Pos=
Edit the Horizontal to be 4 and the Vertical to be 87. Go to the File menu and choose Save. Close all windows and launch ChemDraw.
ChemDraw users using version 3.5 or less should do the same procedure except you would edit the 'prefs' file located in the CD_Items folder, since there was no chemdraw.ini in earlier versions.
