Problem:
TIBCO Spotfire Server environment down after changing the Spotfire Server and Node Manager hostnames
Solution:
There can be a situation where the TIBCO Spotfire Server and the Node Manager hostnames were changed resulting in the Spotfire Server environment being down. The reason for this behavior is that the Spotfire Server hostname is written into the Spotfire database when the bootstrap is created. There are several other places where the hostnames are recorded which have to be updated. Follow the steps given below to get the Spotfire environment up and running:
- Stop the Spotfire Server and Node Manager services and set it to "Manual" start.
- After renaming the hostname and rebooting the machines, re-create the bootstrap file on the Spotfire Server machine and start the service. See Creating the bootstrap.xml file for more details.
- Once the service is started, launch the Spotfire Server URL, login and within the Administration User Interface go to Nodes and Services. Then under Nodes, choose the Node and click on Revoke trust. See Revoking trust of a node for more details.
- Go to untrusted Nodes and delete the Node Manager.
- On the Node Manager machine, edit nodemanager.properties file located within "<node manager installation dir>\nm\config\" folder and make sure the Node Manager and Spotfire Server hostnames are updated with the new names.
- Start the Node Manager service.
- From within the Administration User Interface, under Nodes & Services > Untrusted Nodes > select the Node and trust it. See Trusting a node for more details.
