Problem:
TIBCO Spotfire Server not working with error "Database schema version [xxx] does not match the required [yyy]".
Solution:
After upgrading the TIBCO Spotfire Server to a newer version the server may fail to start with the following error, or you may see the same message while using the TIBCO Spotfire Server configuration tool:
Or:
Database schema version 370 does not match the required 353
This issue will be seen when the Spotfire Server files on disk are not at the same version as the Spotfire database. Upgrades and hotfixes require both an update to the files on disk as well as an update to the Spotfire database. Here are common cases where you will see this issue:
- The Spotfire Server file system has not been upgraded to match the Spotfire database version or vice-versa. To resolve, ensure that both the Spotfire Server file system and Spotfire database are the at same version (see Upgrading Spotfire Server or hotfix application instructions for more details).
- The configuration tool of an earlier Spotfire Server version is accessed from the Windows Start Menu. Make sure you are using the configuration tool for the correct, currently running Spotfire Server version and not from an earlier version (whose files are still on disk)
