Product: TIBCO Spotfire®
Product: TIBCO Spotfire®
Problem:
Using MATLAB or MATLAB Production Server (MPS) with TSSS.
Solution:
In addition to Spotfire's integration with interactive MATLAB sessions via TIBCO Spotfire Statistics Services (TSSS), MathWorks has also developed a Spotfire extension to enable integration with MATLAB Production Server (MPS). Highlights for each option are listed below and further expanded in the Reference URL.
This may be the best solution for you if you prefer to develop and manage your MATLAB analytics within Spotfire, only need to support a single version of MATLAB, have fewer concurrent users, and/or have an environment of mixed advanced analytics (MATLAB, R, etc.)
Spotfire connection for MATLAB Production Server (MPS)
This may be the best solution if you prefer to develop and manage your MATLAB analytics outside of Spotfire, need to support multiple versions of MATLAB, have a larger number of concurrent users, and/or have a primary focus on MATLAB integration into Spotfire.
Note: MATLAB is available under separate software license terms and is not part of the TIBCO Spotfire product line. As such, MATLAB is not within the scope of your license for any TIBCO Spotfire product. MATLAB is not supported, maintained or warranted in any way by TIBCO Software Inc. Download and use of MATLAB is solely at your own discretion and subject to the license terms applicable to MATLAB.
Note: Each TSSS instance can use only one type of statistical engine (such as TERR, open source R, SAS or MATLAB) at a time. (All nodes in a clustered TSSS instance must also use the same type of statistical engine.) Multiple standalone TSSS instances (each configured to use a different type of statistical engine) can be installed on the same server, if (1) the server has enough resources and (2) each TSSS instance listens on its own pair of ports and has its own distinct service name.
