External error 'The host XXXX does not support SSL connections' when connecting with TIBCO Spotfire Connector for Oracle MySQL

When trying to connect to MySQL via TIBCO Spotfire Connector (Add Data Tables > Add > Connection To > Oracle MySQL), the connection may fail with the following error.

External error:
The host XXXX does not support SSL connections.

This error is caused when a new driver i.e MySQL Connector/Net v8.0.8 or later is used. In MySQL Connector/Net v8.0.8 and later the SSL Mode is set by default to 'Required' which should be 'None' for the Oracle MySQL connection to work using TIBCO Spotfire Connectors.

To resolve, apply the client hotfix which applies to your version:

• TS 7.11 HF-006 or higher
• TS 7.12 HF-004 or higher

Note: This issue will not be seen if you use the MySQL driver prior to v8.0.8 where SSL Mode was not enabled by default.
