Problem:

Error "Object doesn't support property or method 'startsWith'" in Internet Explorer when using Spotfire version 7.12


Solution:

When opening or using Spotfire analysis files in Internet Explorer, you might be getting the following error message:

Interpretation error during update.
Type: TypeError
Message: Object doesn't support property or method 'startsWith'
Stacktrace: TypeError: Object doesn't support property or method 'startsWith'
...
...
------------------------
  Defect related to handing of background images in text areas.

Fixed in hotfix TS_7.12.0.61 HF-002 for TIBCO Spotfire 7.12.x, and fixed in version 7.13 and later.
