"[UserXYZ] is an invalid user. Check your user Database" error while trying to open Spotfire Modeler client.
After installing Spotfire Metrics Modeler client. When you double click Modeler to open the client, you see this error:"[UserXYZ] is an invalid user. Check your user Database". Users cannot login to the Spotfire Metrics Modeler client to create Metrics KPIs
When running the Spotfire Metrics Modeler the user receives the following ‘[UserXYZ] is an invalid user. Check your user database’ When the default user has been entered incorrectly during the setup of Spotfire Metrics and the user subsequently tries to access the Spotfire Metrics server using the Modeler, the user will receive the message ‘[UserXYZ] is an invalid user. Check your user database’ where ‘[UserXYZ]’ is the alias of the user running the Modeler.
To overcome this issue, the correct user alias can be inserted in the Spotfire Metrics database using the ‘AddUserToSpotfireSystem’ SQL Server script as follows.(please see attachment)
Open a valid connection to the SQL Server running the Spotfire Metrics database with SQL Server Management Studio
Open the ‘AddUserToSpotfireSystem’ script in SQL Server Management Studio. The script contains an example and guidance on how to use.
Change the database reference to the name of the metadata database used during the Spotfire Metrics installation process.
Edit line to include the alias to be inserted in to the ‘user’ table.
Run the ‘AddUserToSpotfireSystem’ script. You will receive message confirmation that 1 row(s) added twice.
On the Spotfire Metrics Server, open the Internet Information Services (IIS) Manager and locate the Spotfire Application Service application pool.
Stop the application pool.
Start the application pool.
Run the Spotfire Metrics Modeler to access the Spotfire Metrics Server.
This should be fixed in Spotfire Metrics Version 6.1 and above.
