Solution:
User receives the following error when trying to establish an ODBC connection to TIBCO Spotfire ADS
"Unable to authorize request. Invalid token. Please check your Composite license. [license-1900554]"
A software enforced license limitation prevents using ODBC connectivity with TIBCO Spotfire Advanced Data Services (ADS). The only allowed modes of communicating with ADS (rebranded Composite CIS) are 1) using Spotfire Information Services (via JDBC) and 2) using the Spotfire Composite Data Connector.
Customers may get an Invalid Token error when using ODBC to connect to ADS. This is due to the following license limits which were implemented in accordance with the contractual agreement between TIBCO and Cisco (the company that publishes the Composite CIS software) and are enforced for ADS by its Composite license manager software:
=====================================================================
1). The connectivity methods that a customer who has purchased TIBCO Spotfire Advanced Data Services (ADS) (rebranded Composite CIS ) can use, in connecting to Composite, are (a) the Spotfire Information Services JDBC client that is part of TIBCO Spotfire Server, and (b) the Spotfire Data Connector for Composite CIS.
2). When such an ADS customer tries to connect via an ODBC connection (for example), using "File > Open From > Database.. > OdbcDataProvider" in the TIBCO Spotfire Professional desktop client (the Spotfire thick client) to reach ADS, the intended behavior is for the Composite license manager software to display this error message, because connection to ADS from an ODBC client is excluded:
