How to update the Web Player URL used while generating absolute URLs when saving analysis files as a library item with the Analyst Client

Description:

When saving an analysis file to the library from the installed Analyst/Professional client, it is useful to instantly see the URL of that analysis. It may be required to update the initial host name/directory which Spotfire uses to generate that absolute URL for the analysis file. The process for this can depend on the exact Spotfire version and is described below.

Resolution for Version 7.6:

Option 1). From the installed Analyst client, connect to the TIBCO Spotfire Server with the URL you want to be used in the direct analysis URL provided when saving analysis files as library item. By default, the installed Analyst client will use the URL that the installed client used to connect to the TIBCO Spotfire Server.

For example:

• If the Analysis client connects to the TIBCO Spotfire Server with the URL http:/// then the Analyst will generate a link using http:/// like:

o http:///spotfire/wp/OpenAnalysis?file=/myFolder/myReport .

• If the Analysis client connects to the TIBCO Spotfire Server with the URL http://public-endpoint then the Analyst will generate a link using http://public-endpoint like:

o http://public-endpoint/spotfire/wp/OpenAnalysis?file=/myFolder/myReport .

Option 2). If the Spotfire Server is accessed through a load balancer or reverse proxy, then the public endpoint should be configured with the config-public-endpoint command so that can be used when generating absolute URLs. If this is set in the Spotfire Server configuration, then that will be used when generating absolute URLs from the installed Analyst Client, Web Player or Automation Services. See 'Reference' for instructions on how to do this.

Resolution for Version 7.5:

From the installed Analyst client, connect to the TIBCO Spotfire Server with the URL you want to be used in the direct analysis URL provided when saving analysis files as library item. This is the same as Option 1 described above for Version 7.6. Note: In version 7.5, the Analyst client does not use the public endpoint as configured with the config-public-endpoint.

Resolution for Version 7.0 and earlier:

In the "Administration Manager", set the "DXPLibraryWebURL" preference with the base Web Player URL as needed. If this preference is not set, the direct URL for the analysis will not be presented when saving analysis files as library items. This is done here:

• Administration Manager > Preferences > Everyone (or other desired group) > Application > ApplicationPreferences > DXPLibraryWebURL: http://myWebPlayer/SpotfireWeb/ .
