Product: ChemDraw
After updating my Chrome browser, I am not able to use ChemDraw Plugin. How can I fix this?
From Chrome 42.0.x update, Google has disabled support for the NPAPI plugin technology by default. After updating Chrome it will appear to a user that the plugin is not installed on their machine. Chrome going to discontinue support for NPAPI plugins with their version 45 release. We are actively working on a replacement. We can no longer support the ChemDraw ActiveX Control on the Google Chrome browser after version 44. We are currently addressing the need in the market for support of the latest version of Chrome and we will update our customer base when that support becomes available. We apologize for the inconvenience this causes to our current customer base.
Meanwhile, please try the following as workaround (enable use of NPAPI in Chrome via the ‘flags’ module)
Open Chrome browser and type the following in your Chrome address bar and click the enter key. Then you will find the option to enable NPAPI for Mac and Windows, just click the Enable link.
chrome://flags/#enable-npapi
Chrome update also remove the ChemDraw ActiveX Control in Internet Explorer; you need to reinstall/repair the product/plugin by the following way.
- Open IE and select “Internet Option” from the Tools menu
- Go to the “Advanced Tab” in the Internet Options dialog box
- Click on the “Reset” button (Make sure to select the “Delete Personal setting” check box before clicking the “Reset” button present in the “Reset Internet Explorer Settings” dialog box).
- Then reinstall our product.
