Product: ChemDraw
When I copy a large picture from another software package into ChemDraw, then add structures within ChemDraw and copy it back to the Clipboard, I can't get it to paste into Microsoft Word application. Sometimes, I get a message that reads "Computing" but nothing pastes. Similarly, I can't use EGO for these types of large pictures. Also, I can't save these large pictures as PICT files.
The first problem was due to a system imposed 32K limit on the size of a graphic that can be placed on the Clipboard or saved as a PICT. Although this is a System limitation, you can now update to the latest version of ChemDraw where a work around has been implemented. ChemDraw breaks large pictures into smaller pictures when tranferring via the Clipboard or saving in a PICT file.
The second problem concerning EGO is due to Apple events not being able to transfer a picture larger than 32K. This problem must be solved by Apple, who may have already resolved this in the latest MacOS. As a work around, use the latest version of ChemDraw and use Publish and Subscribe or use Copy and Paste for this type of picture.
