How does file edit lock work on Signals, and how long before the lock is released automatically?

There are 3 possible scenarios that occur when editing excel on SNB:

1)   User opens the document to edit it locally, so word or excel is open with the document, but the user does other things on their PC all day. In this case the document is locked and stays locked since the PC is running and the Lock is continually refreshed.
2)   User opens the document to edit it locally, and then walks away from their PC or closes their PC. Basically when the PC shuts down or sleeps, the document stays locked for 30 minutes (this is the timeout period) and then is freed.
3)   User opens the document to edit it locally, edits it, and then exits word or excel. In this case is the lock should be freed, and the document can be opened by another user.

You need to understand which of the three is your usual scenario.
