Problem:
How to configure the TIBCO Spotfire Statistics Services (TSSS) URL for use by the Spotfire Web Player and Automation Services clients
Solution:
To run data functions in a published Spotfire analysis via TIBCO Spotfire Web Player or TIBCO Spotfire Automation Services using TSSS, the appropriate URL for TIBCO Spotfire Statistics Services (TSSS) must be configured using the Preferences section in the Spotfire Analyst desktop client's Administration Manager.
To do this, log into Spotfire Server from the TIBCO Spotfire Analyst desktop client as a Spotfire Administrator, then perform the following steps:
1. Go to:
Tools -> Administration Manager -> Preferences Tab -> Select the "Everyone" user group (or desired group) -> Expand the "TIBCO Spotfire Statistics Services" option -> Select "Statistics Services"
2. Click Edit.
3. Enter the TSSS URL in the appropriate engine field (such as TIBCO Enterprise Runtime for R).
4. Click OK to exit the dialog and save the settings.
NOTE: If authentication has been enabled in TIBCO Spotfire Statistics Services (TSSS), you will also need to configure Spotfire Web Player and/or Automation Services to provide the username and password for access to TSSS.
NOTE: For Spotfire users who are members of another user group that has had a different URL specified in its Preferences for the same TSSS engine type, that user group's URL preference will be used, instead of the "Everyone" group's URL preference.
NOTE: A Spotfire user who is a member of the Administrator user group will be able to select "Tools > Administration Manager" from the main menu in the Spotfire Analyst desktop client, while logged into Spotfire Server. (Spotfire users who are not members of the Administrator user group will not be able to make this selection.)
Additional Notes:
If the Web Player and Automation Services are part of a Spotfire Server environment that has the new TERR Service (TERRSRV) deployed and running, then they will send data functions' TERR scripts to the TERR Service for processing.
If the TERR Service (TERRSRV) node has not been deployed, or is not running, then they will look for a TSSS/TERR URL to use instead.
This is also true for the Spotfire Analyst desktop client when it is logged into Spotfire Server and running a data function whose "Run Location" parameter is set to "Force Server".
