Problem:
Use of "Exclude Filtered Out Rows" in Filtering in Related Data Tables.
Solution:
The intent of this KB article is to explain how "Exclude Filtered Out Rows" works in "Filtering in related data tables" with example. Consider we have two tables "Table1" and "Table2" in your report with following data set.
Col1 |
---|
A |
B |
C |
D |
Z |
Col1 |
---|
A |
E |
C |
F |
Z |
1. Expand "Filtering in related data tables" icon for "Table1" and choose the option "Filtering in Table2">"Exclude Filtered Out Rows".
2. Now expand "Filtering in related data tables" icon for "Table2" and choose the option "Filtering in Table1">"Ignore Filtering".
If we filter out the column values "A", "C" and "E" in "Table2", Spotfire filters the tables in the following way:
Table1: Spotfire will remove the matching rows values that have been filtered out from Table2. The matching row values "A" and "C" will be removed from Table1 and this table will contain records "B","D" and "Z".
Table2: Spotfire will remove rows where column values are "A","C" and "E" from Table2 resulting in Table2 with two records("F" and "Z")
