Description:

Spotfire Administration Console does not prompt to enter Username/Password and automatically logs when using the Google Chrome browser. It may also return a 401 unauthorized error.

Symptoms:

Spotfire Administration Console does not prompt to enter Username/Password and automatically logs when using Google Chrome browser and also may return 401 unauthorized error If you are using Database Authentication on the Spotfire Server you will get 401 Unauthorized error

Cause:

This generally occurs if the Google Chrome setting - "AuthSchemes" does not have Basic Authentication enabled.

Resolution

1). Open Windows Registry by running regedit.exe .

2). Search for [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Policies\Google\Chrome] .

3). Make sure that the "AuthSchemes" Key has "basic" included as detailed below.

"AuthSchemes"="basic,digest,ntlm,negotiate"
