First, try right clicking on the CDXML or CDX file and Select Get Info. There you can confirm if the file is locked for the OS. If the file is locked, unlock it first before attempting to open the file.
The second option to try is saving a new file to a different folder and testing if the issue continues. For example, on your desktop or your documents folder.
We have also seen this issue occur when you customize the default folders during installation. To correct this, you need to uninstall ChemDraw and remove all the configuration files as follows:
1. After deleting ChemDraw from the Applications folder, delete all the com.perkinelmer.chemdraw.[version] folders under:
Macintosh HD\Users\Shared\
2. Delete all cambridgesoft or perkinelmer plist file under
Macintosh HD\Users\[username]\Library\Preferences
Macintosh HD\Users\[username]\Library\Preferences\ByHost
Macintosh HD\Users\Shared\Library\Preferences
3. Restart the computer and reinstall the software leaving the default options for the folders that get created during the installation process.
