When using Spotfire Analyst in 'Offline' mode, end-users were not able to open an Excel file as a data source, but were able to open a DXP analysis file.
This can be caused by a license setting in the Tools > Administration Manager - the end-user needs to have 'Open File Data' enabled under the 'Spotfire Analyst' section:
The end-user would need to log in to the server at least once for the setting to be enabled, as the license settings are verified only when connecting to the Spotfire server.
