Supporting Knowledge
Formatting refers to giving a value meaning by adding units of measurements, thousands and decimal separators, and other information. Formatting can be applied to the data on different levels.
Category options include: [General],
[Number],
[Currency],
[Percentage],
[Scientific], and
[Custom].
Formatting does not include visual properties, such as color, font, or size.
Which formatting options are available depends on the data type of the value. For example, text cannot be formatted at all, while an integer has several different possibilities. An integer can, among other things, be formatted as a number, as currency, and as a percentage.
Optionally, the formatting of a selected column can be modified by copying the formatting of a different column. From the Formatting settings window, select Copy formatting settings from another column. Under Copy formatting settings from another column, select ["data table name"] and
["column name"], then select
[Copy]. Finally, from the Formatting settings window, select
[OK].
