Keywords: No data, Null Review Columns, Error opening the Study, Broken Study in SLLR.
Description of the Issue:
Symptom: SLLR Review Columns have no data in the Study and/or SLLR Review Columns are missing dummy data in the Template.
Steps to verify and Solution:
Steps to verify:
In Spotfire Client, open the data canvas for the table with missing column data. If there are multiple versions of the same review column, the original review columns will indicate that they are no longer valid.
Root Cause:
This occurs when data functions are deleted in a template but the corresponding review columns are not deleted from each table.
Solution:
Delete the data functions in the template (Data -> Data Function Properties -> Delete) AND delete all the review columns from each table enabled for review (Data -> Column Properties -> Delete). Save the template. Open Study Configuration and Add Review Columns to Template File. Save Template. Publish Study.
Delete the data functions in the template (Data -> Data Function Properties):
Delete all the review columns from each table enabled for review (Data -> Column Properties):
Best Practices to avoid these kind of issues:
-
When starting development on a new Template file for a new Study, always start from a file which does not have any Review Columns or Data Functions etc. in it from another study. Eg. To create a clean Template file, take an existing one that you would like to re-use going forward and perform the steps above outlined to remove the Data Functions, Review Columns and Filters.
-
Exception to the above would be if setting up a new Study where all the same Domains, Custom Review Roles and Review Columns will remain the exact same. Then a copy of an existing Template file with those things present will work as a base. (You still need to do Study Config to set keys and enable domains etc. but Review Columns and Filters will already be present)
-
If you are using a different set of tables, differently named domains or anything like that, it’s best to start from a Template file clear of SLLR columns etc. like in the first bullet point.
