This article describes the error "Cannot read properties of null getElementByTagName" that may occur in UI while using the RSS feed
Details:
If the RSS feed is being used in the Spotfire environment.
Then in the web player's login dialog, the following error will be seen in the UI as per the screenshot and No RSS feed will be displayed.
"Something went wrong, error logged in user-interface.log with ID Details: Cannot read properties of null(reading getElementByTagName)"
Resolution:
The issue is seen in the Spotfire Server Version 12.0.0 and later and has been addressed in
TIBCO Spotfire version 12.4.
For the TIBCO Spotfire Server version lower than 12.4
This error is seen if the RSS feed consists of less than 3 items as the code designed expects to show the first 3 items.
So as a workaround in order to avoid this error the RSS feed must be modified so that it contains at least 3 items.
