Spotfire: How to extract Spotfire Analytics/Analyst client *.msi file for silent installation or software deployment

Summary:

In some situations, for example, when using Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager (MECM) to deploy Spotfire software, it is necessary to use an .msi type software installer. The following instructions can be used to extract .msi installer from a standard Spotfire .exe installer. 

Resolution:

There are two separate Spotfire Analytics/Analyst client installers:

1. "single user" installer installs the software for one specific user, the user that launches the installer, in C:\Users\[user-name]\AppData\Local\Spotfire.
2. "shared computer" installer installs the software in a location accessible to all users in C:\Program Files (x86)\Spotfire.

- Run the installer that is required for your installation type (single user or shared computer) and leave it on the first screen:

- For single user installer, setup-single-user-[version].exe, the extracted files will be in C:\Users\[user-name]\AppData\Local\Package Cache\ inside a folder name similar to {848441AC-00E1-4BFA-9FBF-CBD285D48628}v14.0.7. One of the folders will contain ts-setup.msi. Copy this file to another location before you click on "Cancel" and exit the running installer.

- For shared computer installer, setup-shared-computer-[version].exe, the extracted files will be in C:\ProgramData\Package Cache\ inside a folder name similar to {848441AC-00E1-4BFA-9FBF-CBD285D48628}v14.0.7. Note, C:\ProgramData\ is a hidden system folder. One of the folders will contain ts-setup.msi. Copy this file to another location before you click on "Cancel" and exit the running installer.
