Description:

Discover the seamless integration of images from local or shared drives to elevate your Spotfire dashboards. Learn the precise steps required to ensure flawless image rendering within Spotfire, enhancing the visual impact of your data presentations.

Solution:

1. Whitelist "file:///" Protocol: To enable Spotfire to render images from local or shared drives, it's imperative to add "file:///" to the whitelist. Allowed URIs preference found under Application Preferences in the Administration Manager.
2. Prepare Your Image: Before rendering, ensure the target image is accessible within the Spotfire environment. It may reside locally on your machine or within a shared network drive.
3. Convert Path to File URI: Spotfire mandates images to be referenced using file URIs. Prefix the file path with "file:///" to comply. For instance, if your image is located at "C:\srv\mars.jpg", the corresponding file URI should be "file:///C:\srv\mars.jpg".
4. Load Data as a Path: Navigate to the column where you intend to display the image within your Spotfire dashboard. Ensure the column contains the appropriate path information.
5. Update the Column Renderer: Transform the renderer from text to Image from URL Renderer within the Settings dialog for the designated column. This action facilitates the seamless incorporation of images into your visualization.
