Summary:
This article explains the steps to deploy the latest Spotfire.Dxp.Sdn file to Spotfire Server version 14.0.8 and above in order to ensure proper functionality, including resolving issues such as the Administrator user being unable to access the Administration Manager after upgrade.
Details:
When an older client deployment package is used with Spotfire Server version 14.0.8 and above, Admin users may encounter the following error when attempting to open the Administration Manager:
Error message: Message part {http://spotfire.tibco.com/ws/2008/11/licenses.xsd}getAllAssemblyQualifiedNames was not recognized. (Does it exist in service WSDL?)ServiceException at Spotfire.Dxp.Services:Message part {http://spotfire.tibco.com/ws/2008/11/licenses.xsd}getAllAssemblyQualifiedNames was not recognized. (Does it exist in service WSDL?) (HRESULT: 80131509)
This issue occurs because the required Spotfire.Dxp.Sdn file specific to version 14.0.8 and above was not deployed. The older client package is incompatible with the updated server structure and licensing framework introduced in this version.
Resolution:
To resolve this issue, download the appropriate deployment package from the Spotfire download site. For example, for Spotfire 14.0.8, under Spotfire Analyst version 14.0.7, the package name is 'SPOT_sfire_deploy_14.0.7' package.
After deploying the correct .sdn package, the Admin users will be able to open the Administration Manager from Spotfire Analyst successfully without any issues.
Starting from Spotfire versions 14.0.8 and 14.5.0, new license management functionality has been introduced to simplify the handling of licenses and license features.
Due to these underlying changes, it is essential to upgrade the Spotfire Server first before deploying the new Spotfire client package and updating your Analyst clients and Web Player services.
