How to use one filter to control two tables in TIBCO Spotfire?

If you have two tables with the same column "Name", and this column has same values, you can use only one filter and limit the data in both the tables.

Consider Tables T1 and T2 with the following data set.

T1:
Name     Company    Shares    Quarter
Sherlock   ABC            100            Q1
Holmes     XYZ            108            Q1
Watson     SAMPLE      90             Q1
ROSS       DXP            200            Q1

T2:
Name    Salary    Phone
Sherlock    1000      100
Holmes    2000      121
Watson    2500      180
ROSS      3000      191

By using the "Name" column in table (T1) you can limit the rows in table (T2).

Use the following steps to achieve the required result :

1). Establish a relation between tables T1 and T2 by performing the following steps:

For TIBCO Spotfire Analyst versions 7.14.0 and lower:-
  a).Click on Edit > Data Table Properties.
  b).In Data Table Properties select the Relations tab and choose the Manage Relations button.
  c).In the Manage Relations window, click the "New" button. The "New Relation" prompt will open. Select the column "Name" for both data table T1 and T2 and click "OK" and "Apply".

For TIBCO Spotfire Analyst versions 10.0.0 and higher:-
a) Go to Data > Data Table Properties.
b).In Data Table Properties select the Relations tab and choose the Manage Relations button.
c).In the Manage Relations window, click the "New" button. The "New Relation" prompt will open. Select the column "Name" for both data table
2). Once the relationship is established between two tables, in the Filters panel at the corner of table name you will find this icon, icon in Filter panel of table T2. Select the option "Filtering in T1" and choose "Include Filtered Rows Only".
