Problem:
Error: "Can’t connect securely to this page", while using HTTPS on Spotfire Server
Solution:
While using HTTPS Spotfire URL to access Administrator UI in browser, the following error can be seen.
Can’t connect securely to this page This might be because the site uses outdated or unsafe TLS security settings. If this keeps happening, try contacting the website’s owner. Your TLS security settings aren’t set to the defaults, which could also be causing this error. The same error can be seen while using HTTPS Spotfire URL to connect to Spotfire server, from the Analyst Client. This is because Spotfire Analyst Client uses the system default browser to access the Spotfire URL in the background. By default, Internet Explorer is the default browser on the machine. So, if the HTTPS URL throws an error in the default browser, the same error will be seen while connecting to Spotfire server from the Analyst Client. One possible cause behind this issue could be that the required TLS versions are not enabled in the browser. Make sure that TLS versions are enabled in the default browser. In Internet Explorer, perform the following steps to check if TLS versions are enabled.
Step 1:- Go to Settings ==> Internet options ==> Advanced
Step 2:- Look for "Use TLS 1.0", "Use TLS 1.1", and "Use TLS 1.2" setting and check if these are enabled.
Below is the screenshot for your reference:
Google Chrome browser will use the same settings used in Internet Explorer. If the TLS versions are enabled for Internet Explorer, it will automatically be enabled for Google Chrome as well.
