What happens when you disable insight calculations for selected columns in the TIBCO Spotfire Analyst client
In the Data flyout (see The Expanded Data in Analysis Flyout for more details) if you click on a column, you have the option to get recommendations both on how to visualize selected data and on how other columns in your data might be combined with the selected data. Spotfire runs calculations in the background trying to find relationships between the selected columns and other columns in the data in order to present recommendations based on the data.
If you have columns which are duplicate and not relevant to other columns in the report, you can then explicitly disable insight calculations for those columns. To do this open Data in analysis, right-click the column you want to exclude, and in the "Include in recommendations" drop-down menu, select No. This may be done to help remove those unwanted columns from recommendations and also to avoid the background calculations on those unwanted columns.
Consider the data table has the following columns:
Life Expectancy | Region | Country Code | Country Name | Income Group |
In the attached gif we see Spotfire calculating and suggesting relationship for column "Life Expectancy" with all the columns including "Country Code". After choosing "No" in "include in recommendations" for column "Country Code", thereby disabling the insight calculation, Spotfire no longer suggests the relationship of "Country Code" to column "Life Expectancy".
