Missing data when loading shape files directly on the TIBCO Spotfire Web Player
If you have a shape file (.shp) that has geometry and X/Y coordinate columns, along with some additional columns present in other files (such as .dbf, .shx, etc) in the same folder or location, these additional informational columns will be missing if you load the data directly via the TIBCO Spotfire Web Player via "Open File Data" (available as part of the Business Author license).
This is a current limitation for the TIBCO Spotfire Web Player (using Business Author license) as the .shp file is the only file actually uploaded to the Web Player when adding file data and the related companion files are not imported. There is no way to import the .shp file and all related companion files directly via the TIBCO Spotfire Web Player.
To avoid the issue, the workaround is to use the TIBCO Spotfire Analyst which behaves differently and which will import the shapefile and all related companion files: First load the shapefile data using the TIBCO Spotfire Analyst (requires the TIBCO Spotfire Analyst license), then save the file to the Spotfire library. Now you can open the file in the TIBCO Spotfire Web Player and see all data.
