Option not to store on-demand data between sessions
When saving a .dxp file with an on-demand data table, the last set of data is saved in the report and used upon reopening the report if there are issues with the on-demand execution that occurs on initial load of the analysis file. So for example, if the on-demand data table is executed on initial load of the report but fails for some reason, then the old data will be displayed. At times it may be desired to have no data saved in the on-demand data table to ensure that a new successful execution of the data table is required to display data when the report is opened again. This article describes a new preference which makes this possible.
A new preference is added in TIBCO Spotfire installed client 10.3.1 HF-003, 10.4.0 and higher versions for on-demand data tables. This preference makes it possible to select whether data loaded on-demand should be stored in the analysis automatically. With this new option, an empty data table will be shown if no data is returned from the on-demand execution.
To have this option, apply TIBCO Spotfire client hotfix HF-003 or higher on 10.3.1 OR upgrade to 10.4.0 or higher versions and then follow below steps to apply this preference:
- Log into TIBCO Spotfire Analyst with Administrator privileges.
- Go to Tools > Administration Manager
- Select 'Preferences' tab
- Select the group for which you want the option not to store on-demand data
- Select DataOptimization > DataOptimizationPreferences
- Click on Edit button
- Set AllowSavingOnDemandData to false
