Unable to give a report name under Automation Services: Export Report to PDF
While using the "Export Report to PDF" task in the "Tools > Automation Services Job Builder" dialog, the "Report Name" section might not allow giving a name. A red warning button will be seen, and hovering the pointer over it will show "No report selected", as shown in the attached "screenshot 1.JPG" file. This is because the "Export Report to PDF" option is only available for a prepared report. If the report was not saved as prepared, the described issue will be seen.
In such a case, the report should be saved as prepared, before trying to use the "Export Report to PDF" option. Below are the steps to save the report as prepared.
- Open the report in Spotfire Analyst
- Select "File > Export > To PDF.." from the main menu
- Select "Prepared Report" on the left hand side and click "New", as shown in the attached "screenshot 2.JPG" file
- Give a name in the dialog's "Title" section as shown in the attached "screenshot 3.JPG" file, then click "Save"
The "Export Report to PDF" selection should now work fine and the "Report Name" can now be given.
Alternatively, if the report has not been saved as prepared, the non prepared report can be saved using the "[DEPRECATED] Export to PDF" option under Automation Services.
