Spotfire Server fails to start. ERROR: "TIBCO Spotfire Server will not be started. Database consistency verification failed. Errors found: Incorrect number of procedures. Expected XXX but was XXX."

This article describes how to troubleshoot "TIBCO Spotfire Server will not be started. Database consistency verification failed". You may encounter this when TIBCO Spotfire server does not start and the following error is logged in "Server.log" (<Server installation folder>\tomcat\logs).

Symptoms:
After a new installation or upgrade, TIBCO Spotfire Server fails to start and the following error is seen in the server.log file:

Missing procedures: usp_finishDelete
Missing procedures: pathToGuid
Missing procedures: usp_moveItem
Missing procedures: usp_updateExternallyStoredItem
Missing procedures: usp_verifyAccess
Missing procedures: usp_finishCopy
Missing procedures: usp_copyItem
Missing procedures: usp_insertItem
Missing procedures: usp_insertDepencency
Missing procedures: usp_verifyWriteAccessOnDescendants
Missing procedures: usp_deleteItem

Cause:

1. It might be possible that the procedures mentioned under Symptoms above have not been created along with the Spotfire Database when you run the Spotfire Database script.

 

   OR

 

2. The database user credentials used to create bootstrap does not have access to these essential Spotfire procedures.

Cause 1. Check if the above procedures (as listed in symptoms) are created in the Spotfire database. If not, then follow the steps below.

- If a new installation:
Delete and recreate the Spotfire database using the scripts provided in the Spotfire Server installation package (TIB_sfire_server_x.x_win\scripts).

- If not a new installation: (In case of up-gradation)
Restore the database from a time that this was known to be working and try upgrading again.
