Problem:

Protocol errors with Amazon Redshift database. "ERROR: Invalid protocol sequence 'P' while in PortalSuspended state."


Solution:

When executing Information Links that are based on an Amazon Redshift database, users may receive the following error:

 
"ERROR: Invalid protocol sequence 'P' while in PortalSuspended state"
 
Cause:
This is typically caused by the use of an incompatible PostgreSQL JDBC driver. Use 8.x version of PostgreSQL JDBC driver instead of 9.x or any later versions. https://forums.aws.amazon.com/thread.jspa?messageID=482221#482221
