Problem:
Error when trying to run an automated job on the server: "Loading Automation ApplicationAutomation Services worker process exited with code: 255".
Solution:
This issue can be seen when applying the Automation server hotfix process is incomplete.
Applying the the client side hotfix for Tibco Spotfire Automation services is a three-step process:
1. Deploy the Automation Services distribution (Distribution\AutomationServices.spk) on the Spotfire server.
2. Copy the files in the AutomationServices folder of the hotfix to the <TIBCO Spotfire Automation Services installation folder>\webroot\bin folder.
3. Replace the <runtime> section in <TIBCO Spotfire Automation Services installation folder>\webroot\bin\Spotfire.Dxp.Automation.Launcher.exe.config as described in the Automation Services hotfix instructions file (Automation_Services.htm).
Performing only step (1) while omitting steps (2) and (3) will cause a version mismatch between the Automation Services deployment on the server and the modules used by Automation Services at run time. This will lead to the following error being thrown when an Automation Services job is run on the server:
"Loading Automation ApplicationAutomation Services worker process exited with code: 255"
For the Automation Services hotfix upgrade to be successful, the Spotfire Administrator needs to make sure that all three of the steps shown above are performed.
