Problem:

The "USA Zip Codes.sbdf" file contains no shapes.


Solution:

When opening the USA ZIP Codes file (USA Zip Codes.sbdf), there is no Geometry column with shapes for US ZIP code areas, only markers for the centers of the ZIP code areas.
 

The shapefiles provided by TIBCO are from a third party provider that does not provide this shape information in the ZIP code files.

There are a number of free shapefiles available for download. Start by doing an internet search for "US ZIP codes ESRI shapefile free download", or some combination of these key words. The file does need to be ESRI compliant. This is a good starting point for your search:
