Description:

If you have deployed the custom extension JavaScript Visualization Framework (JSViz) v3.4.0.1 on your Spotfire server and try to create or start a Web player or Automation Services instance, it will fail to start with the error, "[WEB_PLAYER] process state switched to failure with exit value 255". The error will be logged in the nm.log on the Node Manager server.

Symptoms:

When you create or start a Web Player or Automation Services instance, it will fail to start with the error "[WEB_PLAYER] process state switched to failure with exit value 255". The error will be logged in the nm.log on the Node Manager server.

Cause:

There is a compatibility issue with the JSViz deployment v3.4.0.1 on Spotfire v7.6 causing the service instance to fail at startup.

Resolution:

Delete the deployed JSViz packages: "JSViz Logging Package" and "JSViz Core Package" from your deployment areas. Update your services and start/create your service instances. For users who need to use JSViz, the only solution is to remain on Spotfire 7.5 until a new version of JSViz has been released.
