Not able to save data source in Information Designer. Error, "Connections to MySQL Community Server are not supported".
While trying to create a data source element in Information Designer, toward a Oracle MySQL Community Server database distribution, unable to save the data source element after entering the connection string details as well as the username and password. An error dialogue is presented with the message: "Connections to MySQL Community Server are not supported". When trying to save your data source element in Information Designer, you get an error dialogue stating the following when expanding the details: Cannot connect to data source 'Database Name', due to invalid configuration or that the data source is not running. Database reported: [tibcosoftwareinc][MySQL JDBC Driver]Connections to MySQL Community Server are not supported. Please contact MySQL to obtain a MySQL Enterprise or Commercial version. The bundled DataDirect driver for Oracle MySQL does not support Oracle MySQL Community Server, and can therefore not be used when trying to connect toward a Community Server version of Oracle MySQL. To ensure that you can connect toward Oracle MySQL Community Server, confirm that you are using the vendor's native driver instead of the DataDirect driver as well as the corresponding data source template. If you have not installed these drivers or enabled the corresponding templates, then follow the steps below. Downloading and installing JDBC drivers, then enabling their default templates: 1. Download the JDBC driver *.jar file from the vendor. 2. Place the *.jar file in: [Server Installation Directory]\tss\7.0.0\tomcat\lib . 3. Go to the Start-menu, and choose "TIBCO Spotfire Server X.X" -> "Configure TIBCO Spotfire Server X.X" . 4. Enter your configuration tool password. 5. Go to the "Configuration" tab, and choose Data Source Templates from the menu to the left. 6. Check the corresponding data source template check-box, in this case the "MySQL" template. 7. Press "Save Configuration" in the lower part of the configuration tool user interface. 8. Choose to save the configuration in the database. 9. Write a describing comment of the changes made and save it to the database. 10. Restart the TIBCO Spotfire Server.
