Problem:

In TIBCO Spotfire Server, some arguments in service.bat may not be picked up by the JVM


Solution:

In TIBCO Spotfire Server 10.5, in service.bat (located in <server installation dir>\tomcat\bin), the parameter %GC_OPTS% is empty by default, causing any arguments listed after it to not be picked up by the JVM.

This is a known defect in TIBCO Spotfire Server 10.5.

Workarounds:

  • If you don't need to set GC_OPTS, simply remove it from the JvmOptions.
  • If you need to set GC_OPTS, place it last in the JvmOptions.
