Problem:

Can clear text passwords in the server.xml file be encrypted?


Solution:

Cannot encrypt the clear text passwords in the server.xml file.

It is not possible to encrypt the clear-text passwords in the server.xml file. This is a Tomcat limitation. One workaround would be to secure access to the server folders and the keystore files, then grant access to only a few users and the user account that is running the Spotfire Server service.  https://wiki.apache.org/tomcat/FAQ/Password
