Running TIBCO Spotfire Server Configuration UI Tool on a local machine other than Spotfire Server.
Instructions to use TIBCO Spotfire Server Configuration UI Tool on a Local Machine other than Spotfire Server. This can be helpful when the server is on a Linux/Unix system without an X/X11 display and if the user is not comfortable with the command line option.
1. Copy the tomcat/webapps/spotfire/tools/spotfireconfigtool.jar file from the Spotfire server machine to the local machine if you have access to a Spotfire Server machine and are configuring the server for the first time.
OR
If the server is running, open a browser and browse to the TIBCO Spotfire Server Welcome page. (Note: Use the same URL as in the installed Spotfire client.). Click on "Tools" and download the "spotfireconfigtool.jar" file to the local machine.
2. Make sure that the local machine has the necessary access to the Spotfire Database, LDAP Server (if needed) and Java 7 or 8 is installed and configured. Make sure the JRE path is configured on the local machine as well.
3. Open the command prompt and navigate to the folder where the file spotfireconfigtool.jar is located.
4. Run "java -jar spotfireconfigtool.jar" at the command prompt to unpack the necessary files into the spotfireconfigtool folder.
5. Run uiconfig.bat (.sh) present at the "spotfireconfigtool" folder to open the TIBCO Spotfire Server Configuration UI Tool.
Note: Copy the bootstrap.xml file from the "tomcat\webapps\spotfire\WEB-INF" folder on the Server to the local extracted "spotfireconfigtool" folder if you would like to use the existing Spotfire Database connection before running uiconfig.bat(.sh) . While creating a new bootstrap.xml to a later copy to the server, be aware of the server name.
