Problem:

The "On-Demand Settings" button in the Data Table Properties dialog is disabled


Solution:

For a Spotfire user who has already been granted the Load Data on Demand license in the TIBCO Spotfire Professional license group, the On-Demand Settings button is still disabled when using the Edit > Data Table Properties dialog's General tab. Data-On-Demand makes use of data functions to provide the desired functionality, so the On-Demand Settings button is tied to the Execute Data Functions license in the TIBCO Spotfire Advanced Analytics license group. If this license is not granted, the main menu's Insert > Data Function menu item is disabled and the Settings button on the General tab in the Edit > Data Table Properties dialog is also disabled.


To add this license to a group of users, follow these steps:
  1. Log into Spotfire Server from a Spotfire desktop client, using a Spotfire administrator account.
  2. Select "Tools -> Administration Manager" from the main menu.
  3. Switch to the Groups and Licenses tab.
  4. Highlight the intended target user group.
  5. Press the Edit button in the lower right corner.
  6. Expand the TIBCO Spotfire Advanced Analytics group and put a check in the checkbox for the Execute Data Functions license.
  7. Press OK.

The next time a user who is a member of this Spotfire user group logs into Spotfire Server from the Spotfire desktop client, this license will be set for them, and the Settings button will be enabled.
