Description:

When opening the USA ZIP Codes file (USA Zip Codes.sbdf), there is no Geometry column with shapes for US ZIP code areas.

Symptomps:

Map charts created with the USA ZIP codes file only contain markers for the centers of the ZIP code areas, and do not contain shapes of the areas.

Cause:

The shapefiles provided by TIBCO are from a third party provider. These do not provide this shape information in the ZIP code files.

Resolution:

There are a number of free shapefiles available for download. Start by doing an internet search for "US ZIP codes ESRI shapefile free download", or some combination of these key words. The file does need to be ESRI compliant. This is a good starting point for your search:
