Information about temp data storage files on Spotfire Server: 1. What is the behavior on the Spotfire Server for temp data storage files? 2. How are the temp files being deleted. Just with normal Windows deletion, which means they are not really deleted until they are overwritten or is there some more intelligent purging mechanism ? 3. Is this temp file mechanism always being used or just for large amount of data ? 4. Can temp data files can be avoid?
1. Spotfire Server has a temp folder that is used to keep temporary and cached files during uploads and downloads from Spotfire Server. A temporary file can be created when a user uploads or downloads a large file to the library for instance. The Attachment Manager uses this temp folder. 2. Attachments in the cache will time out and be removed after a configurable amount of time. Default values for the cache expiration time and the max cache size are 24 hours (68400 seconds) and 10 GB (10240 MB). Unused or older temp files should be remove as more space is needed. 3. For the Attachment Manager, yes. It is used when large amounts of data are transferred between Spotfire Clients, Spotfire Web Players or web browsers and Spotfire Server. The Library uses the Attachment Manager to transfer the actual content when downloading or saving items, and Information Services uses it for downloading the result of an information link execution. 4. It may possible to avoid by reducing the "Max cache size", but you will have impact on your system terms of performance. Please refer to the Spotfire server installation manual - section 4.19 Attachment Manager for more details. https://docs.tibco.com/pub/spotfire_server/6.5.3/doc/pdf/TIB_sfire_server_doc_ServerInstallationManual.pdf
