Spotfire: SerializationException "Type is not marked as serializable" while opening analysis

Problem

The following error might be displayed when opening analysis file:

Unable to read the file ...
TargetInvocationException at Spotfire.Dxp.Framework:
Exception has been thrown by the target of an invocation. (HRESULT: 80131604)

at Spotfire.Dxp.Framework.ApplicationModel.ProgressService.ExecuteWithProgressCore(String title, String description, ProgressOperation operation) at Spotfire.Dxp.Forms.WebView.FormsAddDataController.OpenNewDocumentFromLibraryEntry(LibraryEntry libraryEntry)

SerializationException at mscorlib:
Type ‘PerkinElmer.LeadDiscovery.StructureIndex.Data.StructureColumnIndex’ in Assembly ‘PerkinElmer.LeadDiscovery.StructureIndex, Version=8.2.2.388, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=4d95002c27fab778’ is not marked as serializable. (HRESULT: 8013150C)

Resolution

In Spotfire Server's deployment area that is currently being used, check the version of the deployed custom add-on package (in this case, Lead Discovery) and confirm that it is compatible with your version of Spotfire.

To resolve the error above, the solution is usually to update to a newer version of Lead Discovery.
