How to distribute pinned Spotfire Mods to group of users

Problem:

How can an administrator distribute a set of Spotfire Mods to group of users, so that they appear in the list of Visualization types by default.

[Expected result]

Solution:

The administrator must first pin the desired Spotfire Mods to one's Spotfire Analyst, copy the visualization ID to clipboard, then finally update the value of Pinned visualization mods preferences with the visualization ID. Read the following instructions for detail.

*The following instructions will pin Scrollable Bar Chart mod to users in a specific group.

*Spotfire version 11.4 LTS was used to create the instructions.

1. Start Spotfire Analyst 11.4 or higher and import any data into Spotfire.

2. Drag and drop a .mod file into Spotfire Analyst. If [Review visualization mod] dialog is displayed, click [Trust].

3. Open the [Visualization types] flyout menu > right click on the newly added mod > select [Save as library item].

4. Select a location in the Library to save the mod file.

5. Open the [Visualization types] flyout menu > right click on the newly added mod > select [Pin].

6. Repeat the steps 2. - 5. to pin other Spotfire mods.

7. Open the [Visualization types] flyout menu again > click the vertical ellipsis icon > select [Copy visualization ID to clipboard].

visualization ID is a string that contains information about the list of mods that should be pinned.

8. From the Spotfire menu bar, go to Tools > Administration Manager > Preferences.

9. Select a desired group from the list of groups > select [Edit].

10. From the list of Preferences, move to Application > Mods.

11. Edit the value of Pinned visualization mods > paste the visualization ID in the clipboard.

12. Close the Administration Manager.
