- What is the purpose of a group?
A group within Signals Notebook makes it easy for project teams, departments to communicate and collaborate. Signals Notebook allows users to share notebooks/experiments/chemicals to a group with Can Edit/Can View privilege. The group can also be added as a reviewer in a signed experiment.
In addition, the application enables to share a group with another group with View or Edit privileges.
- What special read/write access privileges does belonging to a group allow?
Group members hold the same privileges as provided to individual users, i.e., view/edit permissions. It provides significant benefit for the owner of the notebooks (or experiment or chemicals) to share with a group of users at once, and thus expanding collaboration.
- What read/write access privileges do members in a group obtain, as compared to non-group members?
Same as above answer. The non-members of the group will not be able to view the notebook/experiment/chemical (if its not individually shared with them).
- I see that the group owner has read/write access to all members of a group. Can the group owner control the read/write access between members in the group?
The privileges are same for all members of the group. Either it can be view or edit access for all members.
- Can there be a group of groups, ie, a higher group leader with control over two or more subgroups?
There cannot be a group within another group.
