When using hierarchical attributes to create ‘Parent-Child’ lists if the properties are set as ‘Required’ in the experiment template, when choosing a value for the ‘Parent’ filed the ‘Child’ field will automatically be populated with the first child value associated and it will not be removed when clearing the ‘Parent’ field’s value. This is the behavior by design of the application.
Solution: Disable the ‘Required’ option from the ‘Child’ fields properties in the experiment template. To so follow these steps (the change will only accept new experiments):
1. Log into Signals Notebook as an administrator
2. Navigate to Configuration > System Objects > Experiment > Templates
3. Select the template you wish to modify the property of e.g. DEFAULT_EXPERIMENT
4. Click on ‘Fields’ and click ‘Edit’ for the ‘Child’ field
5. Uncheck the box for ‘Required’ and click ‘Save’
